The Business Excellence Awards at the Quesnel & District Seniors’ Centre was a gala affair on Oct. 21.

There was a happy, friendly buzz as people arrived and started sitting at their tables.

The event was hosted by the Quesnel & District Chamber of Commerce.

It was easy to tell there is a good connectivity amongst the community businesses, so the Chamber is obviously doing a good job.

A lot of people took advantage of the gala evening to get dressed up and looked very nice.

The welcoming speeches were relatively short, and the politicians got the traditional one-clap applause.

Dinner, which was provided by Savalas Steak House, was delicious and the variety of dishes was outstanding.

A pleasant surprise for the evening was the marvelous performance by the local band, Occy Juicebox Band, which, apparently, gave its premiere performance that night.

It was a great group of talented musicians and singers who provided some wonderful entertainment. There was a lot of chair dancing going on during their two sets.

It was nice to have the Miss Quesnel Royalty and the B.C. Ambassador present to greet people and hand awards to the winners in each category.

Award presentations
