They are therapeutic canines who have been

temperament tested to ensure safe and enjoyable

experiences with clients such as the seniors at

Maeford Place last week. CHAAPS is a non-profit

society which offers educational and therapeutic

programs with horses and dogs. Tally, a standard

poodle and Zoe, a Shih Tzu/terrier cross were joined

by a curious mini schnauzer who wasn’t with the

CHAAPS program but at the advanced age of 15

wasn’t a problem. Shautzie was visiting a Maeford

resident and dropped by the lounge with his owner

to join the party. Lynn Ivens, Tally’s handler and

Michelle Daniels, Zoe’s handler, both ensured there

were no tussles between the three dogs, but everything

went well as the CHAAPS dogs focused on the

residents just as they were trained to do. To find out
