On a cool and frosty Dec. 9 evening, Quesnel Shiraoi Twinning Society had its annual Christmas pot luck dinner at the Shiraoi House.

There was a variety of a scrumptious food for dinner that evening, understandably as a multi-culture group. It’s always interesting what food is brought and shared.

We had a gathering of about 30 people. It was a bit smaller this year, as we had a rental on our usual Thursday evenings.

So we then chose Saturday, and during Christmas season, it seems there were several Christmas parties going on that evening. Some of our members were booked with other events and they were surely missed.

We had a wonderful Christmas musical performance by our member, Andrea Sturt, and young lady, Satsuki Yoshii.

Satsuki is from Shiraoi. She is in Quesnel attending Correlieu Secondary School for the year. It turns out Satsuki is a very talented young lady – full of surprises.

Andrea sang and also played her flute, while Satsuki was singing and playing a piano keyboard.

We also had a new young lady, Matsuki Takeji, who arrived in the fall of 2017 from Japan. It happened to be her birthday that evening, as well as an early Jan. 1 birthday for one of our longest members, Phil Demers. We cheerfully sang Happy Birthday, and wished them well.

We all enjoyed each other’s company, as it was an exhilarating, heartfelt, evening full of joy among our delightful members and friends.

We want to wish everyone a happy, healthy new year for 2018.
