Spring means the beautiful game is underway in Quesnel even though all the corners, throw-ins and free kicks were still inside.

The Quesnel Youth Soccer Association’s indoor football facility threw its doors open wide to accommodate more than 30 teams at the Annual Goldpan Tournament held Apr. 5-7. Players from U10 to U17 age categories converged in the city for this yearly kickoff to the footy season. Quesnel teams came away with goldpan gold in the U13 girls’ and U15 girls’ divisions.

Teams came to Quesnel this year from Bulkley Valley, the Northern United FC program out of Prince George, Cariboo Youth Soccer Association, Prince George Youth Soccer Association and Williams Lake for this icebreaker football effort.

The Strikers rep team program is also now up and running for the season, and community soccer starts on April 24, followed by the startup of the Tiny Tots program on May 4.

Information on how to register for any remaining spots on a youth soccer team, or to sign up as a coach and/or a referee, go to the organization’s website at qysa.ca.
