• Big Brothers, Big Sisters Quesnel hosts its 11th annual Golf for Kids’ Sake at Richbar Golf &Gardens Sept. 10 from 1 p.m. Call 250-992-7257 or email bbbsques@goldcity.net to register.

• The Quesnel &District Riding Club hosts its Fundraiser Ranch Challenge with Obstacles on Sept. 10 from 1 p.m. at Bouchie Lake Riding Arena.

• Quesnel Kangaroos open tryouts continue next week, on Tuesday Sept. 12 from 9:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. and Thursday Sept. 14 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Quesnel Arena.

• Meet the cyclists taking part in the Cops for Cancer Tour de North challenge from 4-6 p.m. at Canadian Tire and indulge in a hot dog, with proceeds going to the charity.

• Special Olympics Quesnel registration for fall programs takes place 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Carson School.

• Quesnel &District Riding Club’s Fun Games and Afternoon potluck takes place Sept. 16 at 12 p.m. Contact 250-249-9667 for details.

• Quesnel’s West Fraser Centre opens its doors Sept. 16-17. Free festivities on Sept. 17 will include a tailgate party, public skate and arena tours from 2-5 p.m. The West Fraser Centre team will play Vancouver Canucks Alumni at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are sold out.

• The Quesnel Golf Club hosts is Club Championship Sept 16-17 and its Ladies’ Club Windup on Sept. 19. Contact the club at 250-249-5550 for details.

• The Quesnel Kangaroo’s first home game is Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. versus the Terrace River Kings at Quesnel’s West Fraser Centre.
