A 74-year-old man has been found after walking away from his stuck vehicle on Feb. 7.

Quesnel RCMP received a request for help in locating the man on Thursday (Feb. 8), after he didn’t arrive at his cabin in the Baker Creek area.

The man’s vehicle had gotten stuck in his driveway on Wednesday in the late evening. His female companion hiked into the cabin alone, along the long unplowed driveway.

After several hours the man had not arrived at the cabin and she called for help.

A Quesnel RCMP member attended and saw foot tracks leading into the bush. He attempted to hike after them on snowshoes, but turned back due to the deep snow to get a snowmobile.

Quesnel and Wells RCMP located the man, who appeared to be suffering from hypothermia. He was transported to Sylvia’s Cafe nearby, where BC Ambulance Service treated him and transported him to GR Baker Memorial Hospital.
