British Columbia students invited to register for exclusive Search and Rescue Academy

Secondary students across the province interested in pursuing an adventurous future in search and rescue, who love the outdoors or simply want to hone their survival skills, won’t want to miss this unique training opportunity.

Registration is now open for the Spring Break 2018 Search and Rescue Academy at the Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre taking place March 25 to April 6, 2018.

The course is presented by Comox Valley Search and Rescue and the Tribune Bay Outdoor Ed. Centre in partnership with School District 71(Comox Valley) and School District 69 (Qualicum Beach).

This all-inclusive residential academy offers an ideal learning environment situated on an idyllic oceanfront setting in Tribune Bay on Hornby Island and at the picturesque Vancouver Island (VI) Mountain Centre at Mount Washington.

Upon successful graduation, students will receive a Ground Search and Rescue Technician certification from the Justice Institute of BC and earn six high school credits and 30 community connection hours.

Graduates will also receive a St. Johns Ambulance First Aid certification.

The program is open to secondary students enrolled in any school district in the province aged 16 years or older.

Space is limited to 32 students and will fill up quickly.

Cost for the program, including all equipment, meals, transportation, accommodations, activities, professional instructors, program training, manuals and certificates is $1,500 (a subsidized rate) per student for British Columbia residents and $2,500 for International students.
