Fire guts home south of Quesnel

A fire broke out Monday afternoon on Lakeview Cresent

A fire gutted a home on Lakeview Crescent south of Quesnel on Monday, Nov. 21.

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called to the structure fire at around 1:50 p.m.

RCMP blocked off the road as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze in which flames could be seen bursting through the roof.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, and police confirmed there were no injuries.

The home is a complete loss.

“The house that my mom and dad, Gord and Judy Giesbrecht, have lived in for 30 years was tragically lost to a fire,” noted Andrea Abercombie, who has launched a GoFundMe campaign. “Thankfully, nobody was injured, but they’ve likely lost everything.”

Abercombie said her parent’s greatest need at this time is finding a suitable home to rent and outfitting it with everything from furniture, appliances, dishes, bedding and clothes.

(Editor’s note: This article has been updated to include the GoFundMe campaign.)
