The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department was called out to a house fire on Saturday (Feb. 24) at 11:30 a.m. on Norman Street in Carson Neighbourhood.
Director of emergency services Sylvain Gauthier said in a statement the occupants were at the house when the fire started but all evacuated safely.
Gauthier said upon arrival, smoke and flames were seen coming through the roof. The fire department was on the scene for approximately four hours, with 22 members responding.
“Extensive damage was done to the main floor and part of the basement,” said Gauthier.
He said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
