Wade William Smith was sentenced in Quesnel Law Courts on Feb. 8, 2017 on charges of sexual assault.
The Kersley man was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault, which occurred between January 1983 and May 1990.
He faces three years in jail.
He was also ordered to pay victim surcharges of $200 for each of the three counts.
Smith is prohibited from attending public swimming pools, daycares, playgrounds and schoolgrounds for 20 years after his release, as well as being prohibited from gaining employment with or volunteering with people under age 16.
The court also stipulated Smith will be prohibited from owning firearms for 10 years after his release, and he will be registered on the Sexual Offender Registry.
Smith was also in court for 10 counts of sexual assault, sexual interference of a person under the age of 14, and invitation of sexual touching to a person under 14.
The judge gave a stay of proceedings on these 10 counts, halting legal processes on the trial.
The court issued a ban on publication of evidence for these charges.
