According to today’s (Jan. 22) afternoon update on the BC Hydro outages website — www.bchydro.ca/outages — all of the outages in the Quesnel area are fixed.

Nine houses north of Ahbau Creek Road and southeast of Olson Road had been without power since 6:41 p.m. yesterday (Jan. 21), but the power is back on now.

According to the BC Hydrowebsite, a crew had been assigned to the outage and the cause was under investigation this morning.

Yesterday, there were three areas in and around Quesnel where people were in the dark due to the wind event that passed through the area and was followed by a thunder and lightning storm around 4 p.m.

According to the website, all three had five or fewer houses involved in the outage.

The power went out on the 1400 block of Dragon Lake Road, due to a tree being down across the wires, starting at 8:18 a.m. A crew was en route and expected to arrive by 6 p.m.

Power has been off in the 4000 block of Bluestone Road since 12:48 p.m. The cause of the outage was still under investigation and a Hydro crew was expected to arrive at 6:30 p.m.

People on the 400 block of Cameron Road had been without power since 5:59 p.m. The cause is unknown but a crew had been assigned.

These three were no longer on the outages list this morning, so it looks like things are back to normal for all of the area residents.

Folks may want to go to the BC Hydro website and take a look at how to prepare for an outage.
