The investigation into a shooting that occurred in Prince George on Oct. 22 has progressed rapidly and led to the arrest of one man and an arrest warrant being issued for another.
Around 3 a.m. on Oct. 22, the Prince George RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired on the 2000 block of Tamarack Street.
Multiple police officers attended the scene. A deceased dog was located in the driveway and evidence of gun shots was located both inside and outside a residence on that block.
People located in the residence appeared to be unharmed but were unco-operative. The person or persons responsible had fled the scene before police were called and were not located.
Around 4:20 a.m., RCMP members assisted paramedics with a call to a residence on Cuddie Crescent where the caller had suffered injuries consistent with being shot. The 20-year-old male was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators believe the man was a victim of the shooting on Tamarack Street.
Criminal Code Search Warrants were executed on both residences.
Through investigation, officers believe this was a targeted attack as a result of a personal disagreement between people known to each other.
There is no evidence to support that this incident was related to the drug trade.
Evidence gathered during this investigation has led investigators to believe that two individuals exchanged gunfire outside the residence on Tamarack Street. One of the men is believed to be the man originally thought to be a victim of the shooting.
During the evening of Oct. 24, police located and arrested 20-year-old Michael Campbell-Alexander without incident.
He has been charged with attempted murder, unlawfully killing an animal, unlawfully possessing a prohibited loaded firearm, careless use of firearm and discharging a pistol with intent.
Campbell-Alexander appeared in Provincial Court and was held in custody at least until his next court appearance, scheduled for today (Nov. 1).
Police are also seeking Cody Aubrey Lorntsen, 31, who is believed to be the other person involved in the shooting.
He has been charged by Provincial Crown Counsel and an Arrest Warrant has been issued for discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a firearm while prohibited, mischief under $5,000, failing to comply with probation and failing to comply with an undertaking.
Lorntsen is a resident of Prince George, but is from Quesnel and may have returned to the community.
He is a Caucasian male, 175 cm tall, weighing 77 kg with hazel eyes and short brown hair.
Lorntsen has a number of tattoos including by each eye, on his neck and on each forearm.
He should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If you see Lorntsen, call 9-1-1 immediately.
