We are sad to announce the passing of Arthur Roland Emerson on June 01, 2009, peacefully, at home in Quesnel, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Roland (Rolly) worked for Service Electric for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman and Blue Jays fan, who loved gardening, cooking, and photography, and was an accomplished musician and artist.

A devoted husband, father, brother and uncle, he is survived by his wife, Janet Gray Emerson, five grown children and six grandchildren, as well brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Roland was a devoted member of Quesnel Baha’i community who travelled extensively (to Russia, China and New Zealand) in service of the Baha’i Faith.

Thou hast asked Me concerning the nature of the soul. Know, verily, that the soul is a sign of God, a heavenly gem whose reality the most learned of men hath failed to grasp, and whose mystery no mind, however acute, can ever hope to unravel. It is the first among all created things to declare the excellence of its Creator, the first to recognize His glory, to cleave to His truth, and to bow down in adoration before Him. If it be faithful to God, it will reflect His light, and will, eventually, return unto Him.

Internment on Friday, June 05, at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church Hall, 218 Kinchant Street.
