Blanche Elaine Porter was born July 27, 1945 in Abbotsford, BC. She married Mike on February 17, 1968 in Abbotsford and lived briefly in Bellingham. They decided to move to Quesnel in 1970 and Mike started working at West Fraser. Blanche spent some time at the Royal Bank before staying home with her son Stephen in 1976. She returned to work when Stephen was 9 in 1985 and spent several years at the TD Bank. After a brief stint as a flagger, Blanche started working for City Furniture and stayed there until she joined Mike in retirement in 2002. In 2004, Blanche lost Mike to cancer and a year later, she decided to move to Chilliwack to enjoy the warmer climate and be closer to her original home in the Fraser Valley. She enjoyed her time there gardening and visiting with her friend and neighbour Frances.

When she wasn’t working outside, Blanche could usually be found reading or working on some sort of puzzle book. She loved time with her kids, grandkids and even her dogs. Blanche was quiet and reserved but she always cherished time with close friends and family.

On April 29, 2016, Blanche passed away in Abbotsford hospital with her loving son Stephen at her side after a difficult battle with kidney disease.

Blanche is predeceased by her husband Mike, parents John and Evelyn Code, sister Alma, and brother Dan.

She is survived by her son Steve (Christa) and grandkids Braden and Callum, her sisters Marion and Glady, and her brother Dave, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Blanche will be forever missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will

be held at Maple Park Alliance Church in

Quesnel at 2:00 PM on

Saturday, May 7.

The family would like to thank the numerous health care professionals who worked so hard to keep Blanche going through her health struggles, particularly the staff at the Kidney Care Center in Abbotsford.
