April 16, 1937 - December 24, 2023

We sadly had to say goodbye to Elizabeth Lund on Christmas Eve after a battle with illness.

Elizabeth lived a full life as a Cariboo girl enjoying childhood at her family's Bridge Lake hunting and fishing lodge. Although she was an outdoor enthusiast, Liz was also an avid academic; so at seventeen years old, reluctantly left home to attend the University of British Columbia where she earned a Bachelor of Education degree and played for the UBC field hockey team.

Young Miss Dean returned to the interior as a devoted English and Physical Education teacher who also delighted in coaching a variety of sports right into retirement. Hard work never frightened Liz and she had an affinity for farming; therefore, it became natural to purchase land with her first husband and develop a strong line of Red Angus cattle, a beautiful flock of sheep and a menagerie of other animals.

Her love of cattle continued with her husband, Dewey Lund on their Kersley hobby farm. Liz will be missed for her fierce independence, loyalty to loved ones; and of course, for her unique sense of humour.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Claude and Hannah Dean; sisters Patrica (Donald) MacDonald; Dorothy (Ted) Smith; and Claudia (Donald) Caine.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Dewey Lund; her daughter Kati (Brian) Worthen; grandchildren Carter and Hannah; her son, Scott (Catharine) Urquhart; grandchildren Matilda and Tavish; numerous stepchildren and their families; and by many loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held on January 20th at 1:00 pm within The Clayton Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Quesnel Hospice Society.
