It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Herb, who left us peacefully. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Louise in 2007 and his first granddaughter Carmen Dow in 2008. Herb will be lovingly remembered by his 5 daughters: Darlene (Dave) Dobranski, Gloria (Bob) Dow, Joan Posehn (Stan Smith), twins Wendy (Ron) Haslam and Wanda (Darrel) Semeniuk. Herb always longed for a son and stopped trying after the twin girls. He will also be missed by his 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Albert (Merceda) Posehn, Hilda (Alf) Kershaw, Alvin (Elsie) Posehn, Marlene (Don) Hughes and their families.
Aside from his family, the loves of his life were farming, fishing, long drives and visiting family and numerous friends.
We would like to thank Sunridge Place for their many kindnesses and care of Herb during his year there, with special thanks to Ron, Nicole, Cassie and Corinne. Donations may be made as an expression of sympathy to any branch of the Royal Canadian Legion in honour of our veterans.
A memorial service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
