It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Cyril Legeard “Ittza Joe.” Joe was born in Hafford, Sask. on February 14, 1937 and after a courageous battle against cancer he passed away peacefully in Kelowna, BC on November 18th 2015 surrounded by his family.
Joe was well known and a friend to all in Quesnel. From 1970 to 1993 he owned and operated the iconic restaurant Ittza Joe’s, where many fond memories can be attributed to his kind and generous nature.
Joe was very much involved with the Quesnel Curling Centre, as an avid curler, executive member, and coach.
Joe leaves in mourning his loving companion and soulmate of 35 years Pat Helzel, his son Kerry (Denise) Legeard and daughter Kim Legeard (Lorne), grandchildren Jordan and Ben Legeard. Pat’s children Kerri Helzel and Jason Helzel, grandson Darius Helzel , Brenda MacDonald (Blair) grandchildren Brayden and Brooke. Gary Parish (Kerry), grandchildren Connor and Aimee. His sisters Dorothy Frances (Don) and Evelyn Skyte and sister-in-laws Teri Stocks, Bonita Quinn and Cindy Reid (Harold).
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring in Quesnel.
Pat and family would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support during this most difficult time.
