Passed away of a lengthy illness at the age of seventy -five, with her family by her side, in Prince George B.C

Leona (Nonie) was born in Nipawin, Sask., to parents Jessie and Michael Oleinik and joined her four sisters ( Helen, Rose, Mary & Stella). Leona didn’t arrive alone, she brought her twin sister Lorraine (Lori) with her. You could not have asked for a more loving family than the Olieniks. The six sisters were best friends, and they enjoyed all the time they and their families were able to spend together.

Leona married Stuart Blacklaw in 1965. They were married in Quesnel where they lived for many years. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary this year.

Leona & Stu had two children, Michael (sadly passed away shortly after birth) and Colleen. Colleen was the joy of Leona’s life. She was so proud of Colleen and her husband, John, and family. She was blessed with three beautiful granddaughters Michelle, Ashley and Jordan. They were the light of her life. She was so proud of each and everyone.

Leona had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest people you could have met. Anyone that met her loved and respected her. Even through out her illness she was always concerned about others and showed such courage and class. Knowing Leona or being in her life was a gift in itself.

Leona (Nonie) was predeceased by her parents Michael and Jessie Oleink, sisters Helen Schreiner, Mary Davidson, Stella Wilson and son Michael Blacklaw. Leona leaves a family that will miss and love her forever - husband Stuart, daughter Colleen (John) McMillan, Michelle (Tim Brown), Ashley and Jordan McMillan, her twin sister Lori (Fred) Ducommun, and sister Rose Wilson, as well as may nieces and nephews and their families.

Leona’s family would like to thank her Doctors and nurses in Surgery North and the caring nurses in I.C.U for helping Leona (Mom) and our families through this sad time and her journey. Special thanks to Dr. Din for your caring guidance.

No Service will be held, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
