We are sad to announce the passing of our mother Mabel Ingaborg Roberts on August 20th, 2009 at McKinney Place in Oliver BC. 

Mabel was born March 22, 1917 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan to Emma and Otto Larson, newly arrived from Sweden.  As a small child she moved with her parents to BC first to Greer Valley and when they were burned out there, down to Lily Lake along the Nechako River 9 miles from Fort Fraser where they homesteaded. 

Mabel married Frank Roberts in 1937 and they placer-mined at Manson Creek, logged at Prince George before moving to Wells BC where she bought a rooming house: the Cariboo Rooms. Mabel and Frank moved to Oliver in 1961.  Mabel was active with the Legion while in Oliver.  She loved playing cards, bingo and slot machines.

She was predeceased by husband Frank, daughter Annabelle, son Roy and grandson Charles. 

She is survived by her children Fran (John) Irene, and Bill; grandchildren Cathy (Colin), John (Kerry), Mary, Brian, Bruce, Lianne (Dennis), Barry (Diane), John (Jackie), Rose (Lee), Shelly, Kelly (Randy), Ken, Michael, Lance and Lisa; great-grandchildren, Trever John, Ed, Christopher, Amanda, Nicole, Jeffrey, Jamie, Alegra, Travis, Chrissy, Marsha, Tyson, and two great-grandsons Jay and Richard; and great-great-granddaughter Brooklyn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in the Oliver Cemetery on Fairview Road at 11am on Sunday, August 30th with a picnic to follow in Lions Park near the Info Centre. Donations may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
