It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Gutfriend.
Mike is predeceased by his wife Jessie. He is survived by his daughter’s Annette (Bob) Fleurie, Marilyn Kennedy, Madeline (George) Reid, son Michael (Sandy) Gutfriend. Nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Mike was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. As a young man he hopped a freight train to Vancouver, there he met and married Jessie Rye.
The young couple moved their family to Quesnel in 1953. During his 56 years in Quesnel, Mike helped build the Old Quesnel River Bridge, The Billy Barker Hotel and many other projects. However his passion was raising horses. It was always very hard for him to sell one of his babies.
Mike will be greatly missed by his family, special friend Mary, all his adopted daughters and grand kids.
