Robert (Bob) Duane Monroe

Bob passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the age of 88 years, in Kamloops, B.C. He is survived by his loving wife Bernice of 64 years; children Linda Monroe (Bob McCormick) of Ashcroft, BC, Keith (Merla) Monroe of 150 Mile, BC; grandchildren Melanie Lees (Brock Nicklas), Douglas Lees (Shawna Gagne), Kira (Clayton) Kursteiner, Drew Monroe (Samantha Lloyd), and great grandchildren, Paige, Braden, Caitlin, Coen and Kaidance.

Bob was born on February 2, 1924 in Omak, Washington. His family moved to Strathnaver B.C. in 1930. He entered the Air Force (R.C.A.F.), in 1943, serving overseas until 1946. Bob and Bernice were married on May 26, 1948, and started married life on their own farm in Strathnaver. Bob had a long career with the engineering division of the BC Forest Service, which involved frequent moves to various locations around the province. After retiring in 1980, Bob and Bernice lived in Hixon, B.C. Bob returned to farming in Strathnaver and kept busy with mechanical work in his shop. Following a few years of actual retirement in Chilliwack, Bob and Bernice settled in Kamloops.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2012 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive.

If friends so desire, memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia St., Kamloops BC
