Russell Warren Brown

October 17, 2009

Russell, age 98, passed away peacefully at Baker Lodge in Quesnel. He was born in Westlock, Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta, where he majored in science. He later joined the Canadian Air Force and worked in the radio department. He married Rosemary in 1950 and they settled in Fort St. John raising their two girls, Margaret and Janet. For many years, he worked as a District Agriculturist. Work then brought him and his family to Vanderhoof. In 1962 the whole family moved to New Zealand where he worked for the New Zealand Government. After a year, they returned to Canada and Russell then worked as a land inspector in Dawson Creek. In 1973, he and Rosemary moved back to New Zealand for 4 years. Returning back to Canada, they settled in Vanderhoof where he owned his own business as a land appraiser.

At 70 years old, Russell retired to his hobbies of camping and astronomy. 2007 brought Russ and Rosemary to Maeford Place in Quesnel.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Rosemary, children, Margaret (Harvey) Fenton, Janet Brown, Grandsons, Wade (Dani), Curtis (Jody) Fenton, and Great Grandchildren, Cassidy, Haleigh, Tyler, Avery and Emma. Also remembered by Sister-in-laws Joyce Thomson and Myrtle Nelson.

The Family would like to sincerely thank the caregivers and nurses at Baker Lodge for the wonderful care they provided to Russell.

There is no funeral at his request.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baker Lodge.
