Ruth (Buba) passed away in Penticton surrounded by her loving family. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a caring, supportive and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and good friend to all who knew and loved her. Survived by her children, Steve (Tracey) Jones of Penticton, Gary (“Sam” Cheryl) Jones of Kelowna, and Cindy (Terry) Lessard of Coquitlam; grandchildren, Garrett Jones, Leslie Lessard, Derek Jones, Michael Lessard, Dayne Jones, Christopher Jones and great grandson, Oliver Dreher. Predeceased in 2007 by her loving husband of 52 years, Doug Jones. Ruth’s banking career spanned many years with the RBC in Penticton. As a top performer she won many awards, including the highly acclaimed Caribbean cruise. Ruth was also recognized and awarded the Golden Jubilee Medal for her volunteer work as a member of the Red Cross Regional Council in 2002. Ruth loved music, especially piano and in later years took piano lessons in memory of her husband, Doug. She loved downhill skiing at Apex, swimming in Skaha Lake and hiking with her many friends in the Penticton Adventurers Club. Ruth’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and keeping her beloved Skaha Lake home filled with love, laughter, friends, music and good food. The family wishes to thank the nurses on the 3rd floor of PRH and at Moog & Friends Hospice House for the loving care. A Celebration of Life will take place at the SS Sicamous, Monday, December 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. In memoriam donations may be made to Moog & Friends Hospice House.
