July 25, 1939 - January 19, 2017

The family of Stuart Blacklaw sadly announce his peaceful passing at the Prince George Hospice House on Thursday, January 19, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Stuart is predeceased by parents Benjamin and Olive Blacklaw, sister Shirley Chouinard and wife Leona Blacklaw. He is survived by daughter Colleen McMillan (John), granddaughters Michelle Brown (Tim), Ashley and Jordan McMillan, great grandson Benjamin Brown and brother Marvin Blacklaw. Stuart was born on July 25, 1939 in Maple Creek, SK. The family moved to BC and they lived in Lac La Hache for a time before moving to Quesnel. He joined the Army Cadets in Vernon as a teenager and enjoyed playing pool. It was in Quesnel, BC he married Leona Oleinik and they had one daughter. Stuart worked for Chapmans and Motorways in Quesnel for many years and through trucking met and worked with Harold McGregor who he greatly respected. Stuart enjoyed bowling and had a great love of the outdoors. Stuart and Leona moved to Prince George in 1995 to be near their daughter and her family and he worked for Pinkertons Security, drove taxi and worked for Esso until retirement. Stuart will be fondly remembered by brother Marvin Blacklaw, by lifelong friends Ernie Parish, Russell Gale, niece Connie Graham (Brian), extended family members and numerous friends he made along the way. Stuarts family would like to thank the nurses who cared for him on FMUA, Doctor Young and the nurses, care aids, volunteers and support staff at the PG Hospice House for making Dad’s last days as comfortable as possible. in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the PG Hospice House.
