The contest between first and worst should have been a cakewalk, but the much-maligned Serenity side came up with a big effort that fell one short as Bear prevailed 3-2.

Bear appears over what ailed them in December as they have now won four straight to increase their lead over Fraser River and BCS by two and three points respectively.

Also surging lately is the point total for Justin “Time” Rasmussen who is now only two out of the league lead with his one-goal and two-assist morning.

Notching a pair for Bear thanks to his work ethic was Colin “Clutch” Keis as Brian “Jumbo” Inwood bashed one in from his office in front of the crease. Unfortunately for Serenity the close but no cigar season has started wear thin as their latest one-goal defeat pushes their record to two wins and seven losses in nail biters.

Providing the Builders offense and finally earning an assist after scoring 17 straight FHL goals without an apple was Dan “The Thrill” Hills, who scored early and then set up Glen “The Chemist” Boudreau to make the game close.

At 6:05 a.m. in the West Fraser Barn on Barlow, Fraser River looked like they were going to cruise to victory, but BCS had other ideas as they snuffed out a three-goal deficit en route to the 6-3 shocker.

The Chevy Crew had laid rubber early on consecutive shifts as Jason “Junior” Johnson opened up the scoring with Jiminy “Cricket” Sales wishing upon a star for two goals in 30 seconds to finally wake BCS up. A juicy rebound swat by Chris “Crown” Royle cued the comeback before Wade “The Blade” Fenton and Nathan “The Last” Strand scored to make in a whole new ball game.

BCS wasn’t done there, as Kevin “Baywatch” Hesslegrave potted two in a row before a shorthanded beauty by Darcy “Doctor” McGillivary broke Fraser River’s backs.

Leading BCS in points for the morning was Jordan “Big J” Johnson and Ron “Job well” Dunn who collected a trio assists apiece. Shaking off the horrendous start to earn his first FHL victory was Josh “Babyface” Salmons who made several impressive outlet passes to go with a handful of larcenous saves.
