The two squads with the longest winning streaks this season met in the West Fraser Barn on Barlow, but it turned out to be an avalanche as Bear blanketed BCS, turning a 4-zip lead into a 5-2 victory.

The furry folk received huge games from the league’s top two point producers as Cam “Shaft” Graham surged in front with a one goal, two assist morning that made Justin “Time” Rasmussen’s one goal and one assist outing seem ordinary.

Also taking advantage of BCS’s notorious slow starts was Colin “Clutch” Keis who used his speed to earn three assists as Les “Knuckles” Nylen snapped his seven-game scoring drought with a tap in.

Also scoring for the league leaders was “Super” Dave Penner who had a flurry of first half breakaways before finally cashing in. BCS did have a couple of pushback shifts but could only muster up Kevin “Nightrider” Hesslegrave’s 21st of the season as Dave “Kim” Carnes finally got off the Schneid with his first tally after an excruciating 13 game goalless skid.

The other contest in the cold confines of Rink 2 saw Fraser River dig out of its two-game losing streak with a 3-0 whiteout of Serenity.

Earning his first ever FHL shut-out and helping to whittle the Chevy Crews G.A.A to a league best 2.94 was “Very” Garry Perry who made several sparkling glove saves to preserve the goose egg.

Scoring a spectacular goal which may have been his finest since his brief Junior hockey career was Todd “The Body” Gryschuk who made several Builders look silly for his third of the season.

Providing the most offense since his March 30, 2011 hat trick for the Lumber Cup Champion White squad, was Rob “The Rock” Lentz who scored a pair of one-time beauties from the point.

Meanwhile, in the Serenity camp, the loss reduces the Builders magic number to one to finish in the FHL cellar. Any combination of one point lost by Serenity or one point gained by BCS will seal the Builders fourth place finish.
