Blue Collar definitely had a different mindset in their clash versus Serenity as three straight losses to the Builders had them playing with much more focus in their 3-2 win.

Several BCS players carried the play early as Wade “The Blade” Fenton opened up the scoring with a top shelf beauty as he also set-up the winner. Darcy “Doctor” McGillivary used his blazing speed and tenacity to notch his fifth of the season to supplement his helper.

Making his 2017-18 FHL debut a successful one was Don “Silky” Sankey, who found the twine in close for what proved to be the winner.

The resilient Serenity side received huge games from a couple of their zero body fat forwards as Eric “Bonsai” Bodman scored on a gorgeous deflection and drew an assist on Glenn “Boom Boom” Boudreau’s tally. “Bonsai” and “Boom Boom” must have shared a “Vitamin water” before the game as they both skated like their jocks had been A535’d.

Regardless of the offensive prowess shown, the top two stars of the game were Richard Ward “Off Evil” and Kyle “Cujo” Anderson who stood on their heads all game making third and fourth saves on several wild scrambles.

The clash between the league leaders didn’t disappoint as the teams ended up both earning a point as the netminders were perfect in the shoot-out to preserve a four-all draw.

It was fairly ironic that the red jersey’d Bear side and the blue clad Chevy Crew ended up in the shootout 12 hours before (or maybe it was the day before) Canada and the US staged their classic Gold Medal contest in Pyeongchang.

This contest also saw the red side dominate the penalty sheet as they were forced to kill off two powerplays to force extra time. Leading Bear to their 30th point of the season was Cam “Shaft” Graham who scored a pair of no doubters as Jeff “Needles” Needham and Colin “Clutch” Keis both scored once and added apples.

Meanwhile, on the underdog Fraser River side, who have been struggling of late, four different goal scorers found the twine with Jim “Soupy” Sales being the only marksman to also draw an assist. The remaining trio of singleton shooters saw Jason “Junior” Johnson, Todd “The Body” Gryschuk and Ian “Heartbreaker” Hannah score their 20th, fourth and 18th goals respectively.
