Quesnel’s Bantam Rep hockey team sustained two more injuries during Remembrance Day weekend at a tournament in Salmon Arm.

Manager Mike Ernst says the team was missing players going into the tournament due to player injuries. The team has been plagued with the injury bug since the beginning of the season.

“We had an injury in our first game, and in game 3, we lost another player to a lower body injury.”

Ernst says the team had to play with just four defencemen during the weekend.

The Bantam Reps played teams from Okanagan Hockey Academy and Calgary.

“These are some pretty good Tier 2 teams.

“It was a tough weekend, but they are improving so much. Our final scores didn’t reflect the weekend.”

Going into their final game, the team was down to 11 players.

“With so few players, instead of having a 60- to 90-second break [on the bench], the kids only get 40 seconds.

“They played hard though and, hopefully, we’ll get some of our players back on their feet as soon as we can.”
