Third annual fun day held at Quesnel motocross track

Riders hit the track on Aug. 7

It was a fun day at the Quesnel motocross track on Sunday, Aug. 7.

The Quesnel Motocross Association (QMXA) hosted their third annual fun day with races and competitions, general riding, and hanging out.

“We tried to get new people to the track and just bring interest back to the track,” said track president Denise Smith.“Our race was in May, so the track kind of sits unused except for people that want to come and use it as they want to.”

The fun day started with general riding and learning the track for QMXA members and non-members.

Various competitions and races were held in the afternoon, including a barrel race, backwards race, whip competition and wheelie competition.

“We also had the kids do the biggest roost competition, so they just sat with their brakes on and saw who could create the biggest roost with the dirt,” Smith said. “I think they had fun with that one.”

Despite not having as many riders in the past, likely due to the heat, Smith believes there was still a good turnout.

Riders came from as far as Prince George, including five-year-old Akio Martin, who was visibly delighted to take home a trophy and gift card for the relay race with Easton Reid, Alex Grant, Bailey Huson, Casey Fralick, Jamie Walsh, Brad Dunn and Clayton Hubbard also receiving prizes.

Adam Smith won both the whip and wheelie competition.

Other results are as follows:

  • little bike biggest roost

65cc - Alex Grant

50cc - Kai Martin

  • barrel race

50cc - Kai Martin

65cc - Chase Huson

250cc - Adam Smith
