In 2017, Four Rivers Co-op committed supporting charities, non-profits and community groups in six communities across its trading district.

A $10,000 donation from Co-op’s Community Support Fund will help the Quesnel & District Hospice Palliative Care Association (QDHPCA) upgrade equipment and training.

“We would like to say “thank you” to Four Rivers Co-op for its commitment in our community,” says QDHPCA president Louise Scott.

“This contribution will go a long way in helping QDHPCA support families and their loved ones when they face the challenges of a life-threatening illness. Thank you for helping us make the road less lonely.”

The QDHPCA provides care for individuals and families who are facing life limiting illnesses and grief support.

In order to be able to provide the best quality of care, they will be upgrading their equipment for seminars and workshops, as well as purchasing books and educational material to guarantee their nurses’ training is current.

“All of us at Four Rivers Co-op are proud to be able to support initiatives that support and improve the quality of life in our communities,” Four Rivers Co-op board of directors president Bud Pye says. “When you support organizations and groups that support their communities, everyone benefits. Ensuring our communities have access to supports during difficult times and that the people giving the support have the right training is something that Four Rivers Co-op is proud to stand behind.”

Four Rivers Co-op general manager Allan Bieganski says the company is excited to be able to support a wide range of causes through its 2017 Community Support Fund, including seniors and youth groups, community organizations and social programs.

“We are very thrilled to be able to support our communities, and are ecstatic announce that the Quesnel & District Hospice Palliative Care Association is one of the 10 recipients for 2017.”

Far-reaching effects

The QDHPCA is one of 10 organizations to receive funding from Co-op’s Community Support Fund in 2017.

2017 marks the second year this program has run, and recipients received $100,000 from the program, which supports community groups, non-profits or charitable organizations that have programs that improve the quality of life within their communities.
