Holmes has you hypnotized

Do you want to quit smoking or lose weight, but don’t feel motivated?

Clinical hypnotherapist Karen Holmes can help give you that extra push you need to reach your goals.

Although Holmes has been working in the self improvement field for more than 15 years, hypnotism is her newest accreditation.

“I was working as a life coach and kept seeing people who couldn’t reach their goals,” she said.

“I kept seeing clients who weren’t seeing results and didn’t want to put the work into it.

“It was frustrating, for them and for myself, so I looked into hypnotism.”

Holmes found an accredited school in Surrey and took the hypnotherapy course.

“I went on the fast track, because of all my previous training,” she explained.

“Instead of it being a 10–month course, I crammed it all into one month.”

Holmes hopes to show clients that hypnotherapy is nothing like stage hypnotism.

“I found that when I came back from my course and started talking to people about it, they didn’t really have a lot of knowledge about it,” Holmes said.

She added most people think of hypnotism strictly as stage hypnotism and don’t realize there’s a clinical counterpart.

The way clinical hypnosis works is the hypnotherapist helps you tap into your subconscious mind.

“We all have these filters in our conscious mind, which filter out all the important information from the not so important information” Holmes said.

“We still get all the information, we just don’t pay attention to it and my job is to bring that information out.”

Holmes also said most people feel they won’t be in control of their own actions during hypnosis, but she explained her job is just to be your tour guide, not give the answers.

“Since it’s coming from you and not from me, that’s where the change begins,” Holmes explained.

“That’s how you know, inside, that’s the truth and that’s why it works so well.”

I asked Holmes to put me under hypnosis to be able to write of my own experiences.

She put me under a very relaxing hypnosis, I wasn’t even able to open my eyes.

My experience with hypnosis was very pleasant, I left the office feeling very relaxed, almost like I was melting, but in a nice way.

Throughout the process, I could hear everything Holmes was saying and felt all movements I made, which were voluntary.

“It’s really interesting to see how the mind and the brain work and I’m excited to share it with everyone,” Holmes said.
