A decade of artwork from a Quesnel artist is available for bidders at the Space Above Gallery.

Betty Bayfield’s display ‘All creatures great and small,’ has been on display throughout the month of March. Bayfield’s work includes 50 paintings featuring animals and children, often inspired by her own photos.

“The interactions between kids and animals (inspires me),” she said. “A lot of the paintings are of my kids when they were small.”

Proceeds from the sales of the paintings will be going to Ethnos Canada, for their work in the Phillipines. Bayfield’s son works with the group to provide clean drinking water and other resources to remote areas in the East Asian country.

Those interested in paintings can bid on all 50 pieces by leaving their name, number and bid on sheets of paper at the gallery.

“The coffee shop got closed down for the next three weeks, so there will be even less people there,” Bayfield said, referring to recent public health orders preventing in-person dining at restaurants.

The paintings will be available until April 9.

“This is just the last ten years, I’ve got to stop storing them” she joked. “I’ve sold lots, but not enough.”

A new display will be put into the Space Above Gallery starting April 10. The show will feature photography from Robyn McKelvie and Jodie Wild and Brad Strang’s paintings.
