2013 a big year for Quesnel Masons

Order of the Eastern Star is helping to prepare for the 100th anniversary of Quesnel Masons

Eastern Star Cariboo Chapter#71 would like to thank all those who attended their yard sale held last week.  We had an excellent turnout and raised much needed funds for our Worthy Matron’s project.

This has been a busy month for the Chapter which included our sale and the installation of our Associate Patron, Burt Garner along with those unable to to be installed as officers in March.

May is also a busy time as members prepare to attend Grand Chapter in Kamloops.  This is an annual event for the BC/Yukon chapters as a new Worthy Grand Matron and her Officers are installed.  The Worthy Grand Matron then visits each and every chapter in the province throughout the year.  Grand Chapter is a time to renew old acquaintances, build new friendships and attend Ritual competitions. Memorial services  for those members who have passed away throughout the year play a part in these gatherings, as well as “housekeeping” duties that keep our organization running smoothly. This year the ceremonies take place in Kamloops – in 2014, our new Worthy Grand Matron will hold her Grand Chapter in Whitehorse, Yukon, as that is her home.

It will be interesting to see how many “mainlanders” make the trip up north.  This is a great opportunity for Star members to meet and greet ‘sisters’ and ‘brothers’ whom they would otherwise not have met.  We, in Cariboo Chapter #71 Quesnel, are looking forward with anticipation to our trip.

Billy Barker Days is fast approaching and the Order and its Masonic affiliates are planning on participating in the parade.  Next year promises to be a big one as the Quesnel Masons celebrate 100 years.

If you or any member of your family has Masonic affiliation, consider joining our organization.

We are a welcoming group and are always looking for new members.
