For the past six years, the Hender family has designed Autism Awareness Pins and sold them around town.

Each year, their son Matthew Hender chooses a new local charity to donate the proceeds to. This year, he chose the Quesnel Special Olympics.

Matthew is a member of the Special Olympics basketball team and really wanted to give back. This year, the Henders were able to raise $1,100 for Quesnel Special Olympics.

For the past three years, Granville’s Coffee has also been involved with this great cause. Every person that purchases a pin receives a $5 voucher for Granville’s. Hello Promotions also donates towards the production of the pins, and Big Country Stationary prints the vouchers.

The Hender family would like to thank all of those involved for making this a successful fundraiser.

“I wear my pin everywhere and people stop me to ask about it. It gives me the opportunity to tell them about Autism. That’s the whole idea and it’s working!” says Laura Hender. The family already has the pin design for next year.
