BBBSQ annual Bowl for Kids Sake a rockin' success

BBBSQ Annual Bowl for Kids Sake was a rockin’ success this year.On April 17, the participants had a lot of fun  and raised more than $17,500 to help maintain and expand our local mentoring programs. Shauna Regner, Teen In-School Mentor, raised the most in pledges ($865).  She was the happy winner of two return Central Mountain Air tickets to Vancouver.   The draw for raising money online was won by Paul Kainth. He received four return tickets from Prince George to Jasper on VIA Rail.  The business with the most teams participating was won by Wal-Mart.  The Heart of Gold Trophy (team with most pledges collected) was won by Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department.  Colin Mackenzie won the autographed Alex Edler picture. Go Canucks Go! Thanks to all of the local businesses who donated spot prizes for the event.

Michelle, the Teen/In-School Mentor coordinator, is very excited about how well the new session for Teen Mentoring is going at Ecole Baker.

The mentors and their Littles are really bonding and having fun together. Little brother (LB) Cayden commented, “Zoe is my favourite buddy. She smiles nice.” LB Ashton expressed his pleasure about having a Teen Mentor. “I love to play outside hockey and soccer with Shukai. I have a good friend.” One hour a week does make a difference in a child’s life.

Little Brothers Arizona and Darnell and Little Sisters Amy and Ally are excited about attending Tim Horton’s Camp in Kananaskis, Alberta this summer.  Support Tim Horton’s Camp Day, June 1 with a purchase of a coffee.
