At this time of year, we would like to remind the community of our ongoing fundraiser.  We encourage people to place orders for gift/shopping cards through our agency.  Different denominations of cards are available for numerous local retailers.  These include: Extra Foods, Safeway, Esso, Petro-Canada, Subway, Dominos Pizza, Canadian  Tire, Home Hardware, Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sears, Staples and more.  We are placing our next order on Wednesday, Dec 7.  Please contact us to place your order or to receive more information.

We are putting together a Christmas hamper for one of our needy families.  If you would like to donate canned goods or a cash donation, contact us.  If there are any companies/businesses that would like to be a Secret Santa for a family, please call our office at 250-992-7257.  We are also putting together Christmas bags for all of the children/youth in our Big Brother/Big Sister program.   We would greatly appreciate any financial support from the community to help us in this undertaking.

At our recent annual general meeting, the agency honoured Lewis Gehl for 27 years of involvement with our agency.  He was a Big Brother to five different boys and also was a board member.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada also gave him an engraved crystal clock.

The Ready Set Match campaign is continuing.  We have not quite reached our goal for 10 new community mentors by Dec. 14.  If you are interested in becoming a Big Brother, Big Sister or community in-school mentor, call our office. Children are waiting to be matched.

If you have winter coats that you would like to donate, you can drop them off at Kwik Klean for them to clean before they bring them to our office.  Other winter apparel – boots, hats, snow pants are also appreciated.
