Bowlers will get a chance to rock’n bowl for Big Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel once again next month.

Bowl for Kids’ Sake will return on Friday, April 29 at Rev Bowling Lanes.

Three two-hour sessions will be available that day starting at 3:30 p.m. for teams of five with “Rock’N Bowl” the theme for this year.

“We’re all excited that we can have public events again,” said fundraising coordinator Joanie Newman.

“It’s great—I just can’t wait.”

While COVID-19 prevented Bowl For Kids’ Sake from being held in 2021, it did go ahead in early March 2020 with a Flinstones theme.

The pandemic was particularly challenging for the not-for-profit organization. Most of their fundraising efforts were cancelled, and in-person services and activities were limited.

This year Newman said they are hoping to raise at least $18,000 through Bowl For Kids’ Sake, in which four teams as of Thursday, March 10 had already signed up.

“We have a wonderful community, and we’re so thankful for how giving they are,” she added, noting they are in need of volunteer big brothers.

In December, Shawna Dumaine joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel as a mentoring coordinator.

Their next clothing drive is scheduled to take place Saturday, March 26, at West Fraser Timber Park from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
