The children of Quesnel will be celebrated next month.

The Quesnel Children’s Festival will be held in LeBourdais Park on Saturday, May 28 with a vast array of free family activities and organizations taking part.

“We’ve been working on a children’s festival for almost five years now, and the pandemic has cancelled it twice,” said Cathy Heinzelman with the Quesnel and District Community Arts Council (QDCAC).

Late last year, the BC Government awarded $11,300 in provincial recovery funding for the festival.

Heinzelman said it would support on-site handwashing and sanitizing stations.

“It’s still possible things could get cancelled or close things down, although we’re hoping that won’t happen with the COVID numbers,” said Heinzelman.

“But because it’s outdoors and has been a bleak two years, we’re really excited about it going ahead.”

The QDCAC is partnering with local children and family services such as the Quesnel Tillicum Society Friendship Centre, Quesnel Child Care Resource and Referral, and Quesnel and District Child Development Center for the event.

Food and entertainment will be available. For more information or to volunteer phone 250-992-8200.
