Last year’s drive saw Seasons House’s Sherilyn Van Halderen, second from right, accept the donation of warm clothes that a group of CNC Social Service Worker Certificate program students had collected to keep locals warm. Three students pursuing their social work diploma at the College of Caledonia’s Quesnel Campus are throwing the second annual Clothes for the Cold Drive.

Kathleen Cooper, Amber Woodruff and Tyson Holtzman decided to organize the drive again thanks to their success in 2018.

“Last year was amazing,” says organizer Kathleen Cooper. “We were told that we brought more than double what anybody else has ever brought.

“We had a ton of clothes and great support from the community, and I’m really hoping we can get that support again, as everything went to use.”

Cooper says they are looking for any warm clothes for men, women or children.

“We also take socks, long johns, hand and foot warmers and boots,” she adds.

The students are working with the Quesnel Support and Shelter Society, who will make sure the donations go to the right places and end up adorning those who need them the most.

The Clothes for the Cold clothes drive started Tuesday, Sept. 24 and will run until Oct. 11. A tent has been set up in front of the college’s library where people can drop off their used clothing.

Co-organizer Tyson Holtzman is also available to pick up donations. He can be reached at 250-255-9913 to arrange for pickup.
