The Correlieu Interact Club and the Correlieu Student Council recently donated $1,000 to a not-for-profit organization in Quesnel providing a safe place for women and their children.

The funds were raised for the Amata Transition House after a fantastic turnout at a dance the Correlieu Secondary School student groups had initially planned to hold in March for women’s month but was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“None of it would have been possible without the amazing volunteers we had from both clubs, the teachers who helped, and, of course, the Correlieu students who showed up to support,” noted Correlieu Interact Club president Beth Mattioli.

The Correlieu Interact Club is a service club sponsored by the Rotary Club of Quesnel but self-supported and self-governed by Correlieu students.

Each year, the club tries to focus on one international and one local project.

“We are so thankful for any donations, but a donation of this size is so appreciated and goes towards so many things such as extra support for ladies trying to find items for their new places, toys for the kids, and special projects and activities for the women and children in the house,” said Amata Transition House.

Anything to help women with a new start, including clothes, shoes, bedding, towels, and kitchen items, is always welcome.

Visit the Amata Transition House online or call 250-992-7321 for more information.
