Gold Pan City Dance studio has relocated to the Anderson Mall in West Quesnel.

“This was a great opportunity to establish a long-term permanent home for the studio,” Sandy Herman said.

“And I think adding the dance studio to the West Village will do wonders to the revitalization already underway.”

She said the locale was ideal in many ways, especially for the students.

With much larger spaces, plenty of parking, close proximity to elementary and secondary schools and Chuck Mobley Theatre, the new West Village location makes it easier to drop off and pick up of students.

Once renovations are complete, the new location will house two large studio spaces, a formal entrance way with administrative space and lead to changing areas and washroom facilities.

At this time, two businesses still occupy some of the space.

In the far end of the building, Gold Pan City Dance is offering Shared Spaces.

This space is available for people and groups from the community who need space to provide their service on a first–come first–served basis. The space can be secured for short term (even for one day or evening) or long term.

This space is ideal for such activities as workshops, private lessons and possibly groups who only meet monthly or weekly and only need the space for a few hours at a time.

“This is more affordable and they will be part of the new arts hub in the West Village,” Herman said.

“We also plan to resume hosting musicians once the space is renovated.”

Gold Pan City Dance is more than dancing, they offer Zumba classes four days a week in the evenings and Shotokon Karate Monday and Wednesday evenings.

“We’re also looking to have yoga classes and preschool classes with an arts orientation,” Herman said.

“We’re also planning a spring break program this year with a wide range of performing arts classes.”

Each year, GPCD students look forward to showcasing their skills. This year the Gala is set for Feb. 17 – 18.

Sandy also said in the near future they plan to resume productions.

Both Sandy and Jessie expressed their gratitude to all the parents and students for their patience and understanding through this transition time.

“This is exciting and the students are happy,” Jessie said.

Sandy was not only pleased with the opportunity for more indoor space, but also was looking to make a difference in the outside space.

“I can’t wait to plant flowers and spruce up the outside, really make this space a mecca for the arts in Quesnel,” she said.

“This new space has energized not only Jessie and I, but all our students. We can’t wait to realize all the plans we have for Gold Pan City Dance.”
