Good Cheer’s Quesnel Christmas campaign is going strong, and volunteer Dianne Greenwood says the charity is taking names for this year’s Christmas hampers.

The Good Cheer office, located in the old Zellers location in Maple Park Mall at 2222 Maple Drive, is accepting applications from those in need from now until at least Dec. 19.

The Christmas hampers include food and gifts for local families and are delivered close to Christmas day. Those applying will need to demonstrate they meet certain criteria.

“Good Cheer has always striven to help those who need a helping hand, especially at Christmas when there seems to be more expenses, less money and the fervent hope of a happy Christmas. We’re proud and humbled to be part of helping them,” Greenwood said in an interview with the Observer last year.

The office is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone with questions can call 250-747-0065.

For those interested in helping, monetary donations are accepted by post to Box 4354, Quesnel, B.C., V2J 3J3. Cheques should be made out to Quesnel Good Cheer.

Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Maple Park Mall location, at Save-On Foods or at the Bouchie Lake Country Store.
