If you attended the Legion Jan. 29 you were treated to Burns’ Night.

The hall was decked out in Scottish fanfare by Lois and her gang. The great Scottish meal was provided by none other than the great cooks from the Ladies Auxiliary.

You were entertained by the Quesnel Pipes and Drums and a variety of dancing Scottish lassies of all ages.

The toast to the haggis was flawlessly performed by Bryan Rodger and by all reports the whole evening was a huge success. Another year keeping ole Robbie Burns and his fans happy.

And if you missed out, not to worry, the Sweet Heart Dance is coming up, Feb. 13, 5 p.m.

There will be a fabulous buffet supper cooked by Rhonda Martin, complete with a chocolate fountain where you can dip those strawberries, cookies or just your fingers (just kidding.)

After dinner you can dance the evening away with music provided for experts and beginner dancers – so everyone should enjoy the night immensely.

And if that is not enough, you can contact the Legion ahead of time and order chocolates and flowers to be delivered to your table for your sweetie – doesn’t get much more romantic than that. The general meeting was also held last Tuesday. This was the first official meeting precided over by new president Neil Huntsley and he performed his new duties beautifully.

Also elected at that meeting were two new directors to fill vacated spots.  We welcome aboard to Branch 94’s executive, Ken Lewington and Doreen Tennant. We all know they will do a fabulous job.

The Legion Show-Off Lifestyles event – formerly known as the Legion’s Trades Show is off to a very good start with start up grant money arriving in time to get all the wheels in motion.

Exhibits and booths are filling up quickly and it is only February, so if you want to be sure to secure a spot make a call to 250- 992-6819 and get the information you need.

In case you are new to reading this column, I would like to let you know that both members and guests alike who come into the Legion whether it be for a drink, a meal or a visit are welcome.

Al Oischak was the winner of January’s draw and secured himself two tickets to the Sweetheart Dance –so to you ladies out there (whisper, whisper) he is probably looking for a lovely lady to take with him.

Roll Call is still actively running and as of yet, there has been no winner. To refresh your memory all paid up members’ names are in a draw bucket and every weekday at 12:30 p.m. and weekends at 3:30 p.m., one name is drawn from the bucket.  If you are at the Legion when your name is drawn you win all the money in the pot. Gotta love that.

Don’t forget about the flea market held on Sundays in the Legion basement and vendors upstairs in the hall. Every kind of treasure you can think of can be bought for a fraction of the cost.

Sunday night the Family Jam gets underway at 7 p.m. All performers are welcome. Just sign in at the door and you will be assigned a time to play. Admission is $3 at the door. Non-alcoholic refreshments are available as well. So come in and enjoy an evening of being entertained by our local talent pool.

In closing for this week, I want to remind you all of Perogy Nite Feb. 18. These delectables will be made by Theresa Annett and she even has frozen ones that you can buy and bring home to cook.

Sharon MacDonald is a Legion member.
