In January, the 4-H District of Quesnel formed its very own Jr. Council.

A Jr. Council is a 4-H district committee, which is composed of and operated by senior 4-H members from all 4-H clubs in its district.

A Jr. council’s primary objective is to put on fun activities for the junior 4-H members of its district. The council also helps with other 4-H events that occur in its district.

The senior members who form the Quesnel 4-H Jr. Council executive are as follows: president, Jacinta Meir; vice-president Julia Losier; secretary Christina Matsuba, and treasurer Matthew Meir.

Since January, we have had three meetings and are planning fundraisers and activities for the district and public, which will be happening closer to spring.

Our very first activity will be helping out at the Spaghetti Dinner 4-H District Fundraiser on May 5. We will be greeting the guests, MC’ing, serving dinner, and auctioneering for the dessert auction.

A few other activities we are considering putting on for the junior 4-H members are an Easter-egg hunt and face painting on Billy Barker Days.

The Quesnel 4-H District Jr. Council looks forward to a fun and successful first year, we hope people join us in the exciting year ahead!

Matthew Meir is a 4-H B.C. Ambassador.
