Parade part of fun at Billy Barker Days in Quesnel

The family friendly festival included a parade

Billy Barker Days had its annual parade Saturday with floats from different groups and organizations across Quesnel. Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Quesnel to watch the parade go by.

There were several floats from First Nations with drummers, dancers and orange balloons around them.

People on the streets had paper hearts they held up for the Granville's Coffee "small town love machine float" covered in roses with gift card giveaways to local businesses.

Both the BC Conservatives and BC United parties participated with BC United leader Kevin Falcon joining the party's incumbent MLA Coralee Oakes while BC Conservative candidate Sheldon Clare waved to the audience along with supporters of his party.

Some of the vehicles from Thursday's crash to pass racing were in the parade as were go karts, the fire department and the Sikh Temple among many others.

The rodeo began later in the day and some of the events included bull riding and breakaway roping.
