Why not use your last pennies to make a difference?

Donate your pennies to Big Brothers Big Sisters and we’ll make them count!  The penny is going out of circulation.  When he announced this, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said, “Free your pennies from….those jars they’re in and give them to charity.”  We’d like to help you do that.

The pennies you donate to BBBSQ will fund our valuable mentoring programs and activities.  Bring your pennies to the Little Big House between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday to Thursday.  Remember, every penny you donate will be added to all the other pennies we receive.  It adds up quickly and it will really make a difference.

Megan Poole, Grade 12 graduate, is the recipient of BBBSQ scholarship.  She was a Teen In-School Mentor for two semesters.   We had a great group of Teen In-School Mentors again this year.  Congratulations to all the 2012 graduates.

Canada Post recently announced some exciting news for Big Brother Big Sister agencies across Canada.  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada was selected to have a commemorative stamp issued in 2013.

The stamp is to honour the organization’s century of working to ensure young people have positive adult role models.

Go Girls, healthy living fun sessions for Grade 6 – 7 girls are being offered this month.  The seven sessions start July 3.  There will be six sessions July 3 –18 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  They will be held at North Cariboo Aboriginal Family program Society at 423 Elliot Street.

This is a free awareness group to help girls with skills to make positive and healthy choices for themselves.  Refreshments provided but not transportation. Game On sessions for Grade 6 – 7 boys will also be held this summer.  Dates and location to be determined.
