Barkerville Historic Town and Park hosted three separate trick or treat events on Oct. 31

Adapting to COVID-19 as it has done all summer and fall, Barkerville Historic Town and Park was able to host three Halloween trick or treating events Saturday, Oct. 31. There was no ghostly t0wn tour or haunted house this year, but many buildings were decorated for Halloween, and staff and historical interpreters got into the spooky spirit.

Barkerville offered three different events in two-hour time slots, with limited capacity and COVID-19 protocols. This year, the historic town and park introduced a Teal Pumpkin Project event in the afternoon, which offered non-food treats and a non-scary environment to be more inclusive.

The event featured 11 trick or treat stations at St. Saviour’s Church, the Williams Creek Schoolhouse, J.H. Todd General Store, the Barnard’s Express Stagecoach office, the Barkerville Post Office, the Barkerville Hotel, the Cariboo Sentinel newspaper office, Lai Soy Lum, the Eagle Claim Cabin, the Beamish Cabin and Myatovic House.
