It was a busy night at Baker Creek Park in Quesnel where local vendors offered an array of products from homemade fudge, jewelry, cards, dog treats and more.
The West Quesnel Night Market celebrated its 10th anniversary on Thursday, Aug. 4.
West Quesnel Business Association executive director Laurey-Anne Roodenburg said she believes their very first market had just five or six vendors.
“And tonight we had over 30,” she remarked. “I think people are looking to have these events happen again. It’s just one of those where you can come, you can grab a bite to eat, sit down, listen to some music, see your neighbor and check out some great vendors. “
Live music and a video game party truck was also available from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Several not-for-profits were in attendance, including WildSafeBC, Terry Fox Family Fun, Quesnel Arts Council, GreenHope Society, Q City Singers and Literacy Quesnel Society.
Roodenburg said she was impressed with the turnout considering the weather. There was a heavy rainstorm about an hour before the event got underway.
“We’re so appreciative of the support the community of Quesnel gives to the West Quesnel Night Market, and that’s the idea,” Roodenburg added. “As a BIA (business improvement association) we’d like people to come over to West Quesnel and check us out because we’re kind of an eclectic over here.”
The West Quesnel Business Association held its last night market in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic.
