The Quesnel Downtown Association would like to introduce Kaitlyn Bowering. She will be helping out in the downtown office until the middle of December.

“What’re ya at?”  I’m Kaitlyn, the new volunteer for the Quesnel Downtown Association. Hailing from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, all the way across Canada, I’m the farthest from home. This is our group’s second rotation; before B.C., we were in Montreal, QC.

“Beautiful city, no doubt.”

I’m 18 years old, meaning I’m fresh out of high school, and after Katimavik, I plan on going back to Memorial University of Newfoundland. The whole reason I applied for Katimavik, actually, is because I want to figure out what I want to do with my life. I’m eager to experience more, to learn more about myself. So far it’s going great. I’m already finding things that I love about Quesnel, things that remind me of home as well as fantastic, new, unique things. I am definitely going to make the most of my time here, no doubt about it.

Katimavik is Canada’s leading youth volunteer service program. They offer young Canadians age 17 to 21 an opportunity for personal and professional development through their involvement in projects benefiting the communities. The QDA finds this program to be a great asset in the day –to-day running of the association.
