Businesses around Quesnel will be a little more colourful soon as the Quesnel Art Trail begins on Sept. 21.
Over the work of 49 artists will be placed around businesses in Quesnel, offering artists a chance to get more exposure and businesses a chance to get more customers.
Keith Prestone is one of the artists whose work will be on the trail at Craig's Table. He is also the Art Trail coordinator for the Quesnel and District Community Arts Council. He said being able to show off his work is a wonderful thing.
"Different people are going to see your work because you're in a business that caters to a certain clientele and that's people that might not necessarily go and see your stuff when you have a show at the art gallery," he said.
The Art Trail also offers people an opportunity to have an annual activity. Prestone said he spoke to someone who gets together with a group of friends who all go for breakfast together and walk the Art Trail.
"They make a whole day of it. Some people really enjoy that, it gives you another excuse to walk into businesses and see what they have that you might not be aware of," he said.
The Art Trail will have prizes for some people who participate, with winners getting a credit to either a business or purchase some of the artists' work on the trail.
The Art Trail is an annual event that is part of Culture Days and is free for people to participate in. Artists display their work and put it up for sale in businesses throughout the town. This year the Art Trail is localized to downtown Quesnel, with some locations reaching the city's west side and up the hill.
